Parker, Ruth (Marriage - 10 Jun 1918)

Lieut. Maurel K. Rabenstein and Miss Ruth Parker were married at St. Stephen's Church, Stevens Point, Wis., Jun 10, 1918.

The groom is one of Neillsville, Clark County, Wisconsin's most excellent young men. He was born in Neillsville, being the second son of Editor and Mrs. C. Rabenstein; graduated from Neillsville High School, class of '12, taught school and later graduated from Stevens Point Normal; was principal of schools at Arkansas, Wis. one year. He went to Texas with the National Guards and served six months. On his return he became assistant territorial manager in the James Mfg. Co. plant at Ft. Atkinson. At the outbreak of the war he entered the officers training camp at Ft. Sheridan and was recommended for a commission, but through the recommendation of military officers was transferred to aviation. He took the course in the ground school at Austin, Texas, and completed his practical air work at Kelly Field and Dallas, receiving his commission as Second Lieutenant about two weeks ago. He was granted a ten days furlough and came to Stevens Point to meet his bride to be. She has been an occasional visitor here and has a number of warm and admiring friends in Neillsville. She also is a graduate of Stevens Point Normal and a successful teacher. The Stevens Point Journal of the 10 inst. Speaks in highest terms of the bride, and gives in detail an account of the wedding.

We feel more than a passing interest in this young couple. The groom has been a chum and intimate friend of our boys during his school days, and we most earnestly hope that to his military honors and happy marriage may be added many years of peaceful life when he and his young bride are reunited after the war. She will remain with him at Dallas, Texas, where he is now stationed for a time.

There were a number of Parker's in the Neillsville area prior to 1900. However, most had died off or moved to Washington state. I don't have any connection to Ruth. I would welcome knowing of her parents and maybe then could connect.
