Carpenter, Rhoda (21 Jan 1836 - 26 NOV 1909)

Mrs. Rhoda Carpenter died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. P. Marshall, in the town of Reseburg, Clark County, Wis. on Friday, Nov. 26, 1909, aged 73 years, 11 months and 5 days. Rhoda P. Stiles was born in Franklin Co., Vermont, Jan. 21, 1836, and was united in marriage with David Carpenter in McHenry Co., Ill., on June 20, 1851. In 1857 they came to Black River Falls, Wis., and in 1872 to the present town of Reseburg, Clark County, where they took up a homestead and experienced all the trials and hardships incident to pioneer life. Mr. Carpenter died on Nov. 16, 1882. Mrs. Carpenter was the mother of seven children, five of whom, Mrs. J. P. Marshall, Mrs. Charles Poppe of Stanley, Mrs. Henry Miller, Edgar Carpenter of Gilman, and Boward Carpenter survive her. Funeral services were held at the Marshall home on Sunday last, and the remains taken to Black River Falls, where Mr. Carpenter is buried, on Monday, for interment.
