Melvin, Lottie A. (19 Jan 1855 - 18 Mar 1910)

Lottie A. Andrew was born on Jan. 19, 1855, in Deerfield, N.Y. She was a daughter of Edmund J. and Martha E. Andrew. In her childhood she came to Wisconsin with her parents, who located in Brooklyn in the fall of 1866, where she resided continuously until about two years ago.

She was married Feb. 4, 1874 to Henry M. Melvin, and to them was born one daughter, Mrs. Nellie G. Soden, who resides at Edgeley, N. D. Her husband passed on before her to the great beyond on March 26, 1887. About one year ago she went to Thorp, Clark County, Wis., where she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Gertrude A. Geiger, who tenderly and faithfully cared for her during her last sickness of several months duration, which ended in death on March 18, 1910. Besides the daughter, Nellie C. and the sister, Gertrude A., she leaves three brothers, Byron O., Wallace W. and G. Howard, all residing at Superior, and a host of friends, to mourn her departure. Short services were held at the home of her sister in Thorp and the remains were brought to Brooklyn. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. D. Upson at the M. E. Church on Sunday afternoon, March 20, attended by a large number of friends. The body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the sorrowing ones.

The relatives wish to express their thanks to the many friends for the sympathy and help so freely given to them.
