Wiesner, William (1893? - 09 Jan 1912)

William Wiesner, employed by the Soo on the section running east of this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), of which Andrew Brunner is foreman, was struck by a freight train going west about seven o'clock on Tuesday morning, and injured so badly as to cause his death a short time later. Mr. Wiesner was riding a velocipede looking for broken rails when the train overtook him. He no doubt was warmly dressed and failed to hear the train approach. He was discovered shortly after being struck and train No. 6 was stopped and carried him to Owen, but he died before reaching Owen. The accident occurred at a point near the Lombard switch about three miles east of the village. The body was brought here on train No. 1 and taken to the home of his parents. The young man was eighteen years of age and had begun work on Sunday night last at this job, his job being to go over the track on this section after each train passed during the night time.

The funeral will be held from the M. E. Church on Friday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Bachman officiating, interment taking place in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
