Garrison, Susan M. (Marriage - 29 Jul 1916)

At five o'clock on the afternoon of July 29, 1916, the wedding of Susan McCutcheon Garrison to Edward F. Burns of Stanley took place at the home of the bride, Rev. Bachman officiating. Only relatives and the very closest friends of the bride and groom were present, and while the vent was marked by simple informality, it was marked by the warm interest of each one present and the sincerity of their good wishes. A love song by Anna McCutcheon McEachern was listened to with pleasure after which was the ceremony. At six the wedding dinner was served in the home of Mrs. L. O. Garrison and as a dinner it will be long remembered as "one of the best ever." About eight Mr. and Mrs. Burns left in their car for Chippewa and there took the limited for Chicago. Their trip will be an extended one, including the St. Lawrence by board, an auto trip through the Adironacks and the Hudson by boat. The will go as far east as Boston and return to be "at home" in Stanley, Sept. 15. The out of town guests were Mrs. and Mrs. McEachern of Iron River, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Fear, Mr. L. Fear of Augusta, Misses Hester and Lucia Fear, Eau Claire, Mr.a nd Mrs. Oresetes Garrison and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Mott of Grand Rapids. Stanley guests were Messrs. and Medames Bridgman, Culbertson, Chapman, Toft and Kuehl. Those present from Thorp, Clark County, Wis. were the Moshers, Zillmanns, Lawrences, Christiansons, Franks and Michael Lesniewski, Mrs. L. O Garrison, Dr. and Mrs. McCutcheon, little Edith Garrison, together with Grandpa Judd and Mr. Burns' three sons completed the list.

Cynthia, Glad this was of some interest to you. We are a group of volunteers collecting and posting historical information for Clark County, Wis. It is a big project and we are slowly working through the old Clark County Newspapers for obituaries and marriage notices.
