Foley, Maria S. (26 May 1837 - 18 Apr 1920)

Mrs. P. F. Foley died at her home in the town of Worden, Clark County Wis., of heart disease, Sunday at 1:30 p.m., April 18, 1920. Next month she would have attained the age of 83 years. Fuenral services were conducted by Rev. J. Neises at St. Bernard's Church with interment in the Catholic Cemetery.

Maria S. Kavanaugh was born at Rochester, N.Y., May 26, 1837 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Kavanaugh. She came with her parents, four brothers and five sisters to Waukesha, Co., Wis., on Nov. 29, 1849. Feb. 6, 1864 she was united in marriage to Peter J. Foley of Wauwatosa. They lived in Milwaukee until Nov. 29, 1872, when they removed to Gravesville, Calumet Co. Thence to Clark County, Wis. in 1886. Mr. Foley departed this life fourteen eyars ago. Mrs. Foley was an intelligent woman with a kind and sympathetic nature, a devoted wife and mother, a firm friend and obliging neighbor. With a Christian's faith in the eternal life to come she entered into rest, leaving only pleasant memories to those who loved her best, of a worthy and beautiful life well spent. Six children were born to Mrs. Foley, three of whom have passed away. They are Margaret L., who died in infancy, James P., Oct. 24, 1918 and Mrs. Anna E. Naltby of Antigo, Oct. 1, 1919. Those left to mourn are Edward, Katherine and Rose of the town of Worden. Also nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive, with numerous nephews and nieces living in different sections of the country.
