Patrick Billings, who has for some time resided at Withee Station, in the northern part of Clark County, attempted suicide recently by cutting his throat with a razor.  He was a hard whisky drinker, and at the time was in a fit of delirium tremens.  He was brought to Neillsville and lodged in the county jail, where he will be examined as to his sanity.  He is thought to be insane from the constant use of whisky.

History records that the first train entered the newly constructed Withee Station Nov. 23, 1880, over a new line of the Wisconsin Central Railroad (later the Soo Line) from Abbotsford to Chippewa Falls.

*We could not find additional information regarding Patrick Billings.  However, James Billings and his family were living nearby in Grant township, Clark county in 1880 and he is buried in the Neillsville, WI City Cemetery.
