Elmer Jackson, aged nineteen years a nephew of Mrs. Levi Withee, was drowned in Popple River, below the Colby bridge, last Wednesday morning. The particulars of the sad event, as we learn them, are that the boy, contrary to the wishes of his friends, started to accompany a party of drivers who were going to assist in breaking a jam, and in attempting to ride a log, as the others did, fell off and was carried under the jam. His body has not been recovered.
