Weyer, Dorothy Rosalie (24 February 1926 – 14 February 2022)

Dorothy R. Weyer, 95, Loyal, died on Monday, February 14, 2022, at her home in Loyal, ten days short of her 96th birthday, with family members at her side.

Dorothy Rosalie (nee Walter) Weyer was born on February 24, 1926, in Heintown (Town of York) to Joseph and Margaret (Hauser) Walter. She attended the Ross School and St. Anthony Catholic School. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1943. She was married to Robert Weyer on May 8, 1945, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They raised eleven children on their dairy farm in Town of Loyal. After selling the farm, she worked at Figi’s in Marshfield and then as a cook at Loyal High School. She loved playing cribbage, sheepshead, and canasta. She taught herself crocheting and many of her doilies found their way into the homes of family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was especially famous for her potato salad and cookies. She loved to have her grandchildren and great grandchildren visit her home. They all knew where she kept the toys and the candy bowl. In her younger years she bowled and played golf. Dorothy was an avid sports fan following her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren religiously. She was a scout leader, a member of St. Anthony’s PCCW and choir for many years.

Dorothy is survived by ten children: Edward (Dianne) Weyer, Fayetteville, GA; Barbara Simonson, Marshfield; James (Deborah) Weyer, Chili; Joseph (Mary) Weyer, Loyal; Raymond (Bonnie) Weyer, Loyal; Susan (Dennis) Buehler, Marshfield; Patrick (Barb) Weyer, Tony; Karen Holland, Venice, FL; Terrance (Shirley) Weyer, Loyal; and Cynthia Puent, Marshfield; as well as 27 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Krebs, West Bend; Anne (Jack) Wiczynski, West Bend; Theresa Lentz, Muskego; and Clara (Ray) Scharpf, Marshfield; and her brother John (Kay) Walter, Almond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Weyer; daughter Jane Herr; and by her sisters Mary (Mike) Weyer; and Eleanor (Lyle) Berge; and by her brother Franklin (Marie) Walter.

Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Loyal, on Friday, February 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Robert Weyer, Brandon Herr, Matt Weyer, Ben Dahlby, Derek Weyer, Jacob Puent, Jason Weyer and Kyle Weyer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or St. Anthony Catholic School, Loyal.

The family would like to thank the providers and staff at Marshfield Clinic Health System for their compassion and care over the years, including Dr. Allyson Mayeux and the Heart Failure Improvement Clinic, as well as her hospice caregivers at Compassus.
