Boehler, Peter (1883 - 3 NOV 1918)

Peter Boehler, who has been confined to the Marshfield Hospital for a month suffering from a fracture of the spine, passed away at that institution last Sunday, Nov. 3, 1918.

On Saturday, the 5th of last month while Peter was working with Fred Olson's threshing crew at the Charles Lindner farm just west of the city (Colby, Wis.), he had the misfortune to fall from the mow, striking the barn floor in such a manner as to cause the fracture. He was immediately taken to the hospital and his body was found to be in a paralyzed condition from the waist down. An operation was performed but the chances of recovery were considered very small. Since that time he has hovered between life and death until the end came last Sunday.

Peter Boehler was born in Sheboygan 35 years ago and for the past nine years has made Colby his headquarters. He was a well meaning, honest young man, a good worker and made many close friends and acquaintances in this section who regret his untimely death.

The unfortunate young man is survived by his mother, Mrs. Matilda Boehler of Sheboygan, and sister, Mrs. Herman Hildebrandt, of the town of Hull, and two sisters and a brother living in Chicago.

The funeral was held from the Catholic Church in Marshfield Tuesday, Nov 5th and he was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery in that city.

Besides Mr. and Mrs. Hildebrandt and family, the following members of the Order of Owls, of which Peter was a member, attended the funeral from here: Gust Franz, Fred Olson, Dr. E. Wicker, M. Bast, Fred Strathmann and Henry Hanson.
