Maria McLaughlin Collier, whose death was chronicled in this paper last week, was born in Ireland in 1849 and came to this country at the age of 15 years, with her parents and settled in Ohio, later moving to Waupaca Co., Wis. On Dec. 2, 1872, she was married to George Collier at New London, Wis. The couple immediately came to Colby, Wis., where they resided for 46 years. To this union was born five children, Charles H., Harry C. Rolls, C., and Mrs. R. B. Johnston, all of Oakland, Cal., and George, who died at the age of one year and eight months. Since the death of her husband in 1920, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. R. B. Johnston in Oakland. Mrs. Collier was a charter member of the W. R. C. of Colby.

Funeral services were held in Oakland on Sunday, Aug. 31, and at the M. E. Church in Colby on Friday afternoon, Sept. 4th.

Our little city and its hospitable people ever held a warm corner in her heart. It was here the best days of her life were spent, and when her last hour came and the God of eternity called her to her everlasting rest, it was her desire that beneath the shady trees of our Silent City, on its sloping hillside, should be her eternal abiding place.

After a long, busy and useful life, she died as she had lived, honored, trusted and loved. Her Christian life was beautiful from its beginning to its close.
