Burhop, John H. (6 MAY 1872 - 17 Jan 1927)

John Henry Diedrich Burhop, whose death was chronicled in the Phonograph last week, was born on May 6, 1872, in Dedendorf, Province of Hanover, Germany. He came to this country with his parents in 1873 and died Jan. 17, 1927, of diabetes, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Carl Lindner, in this city (Colby, Wis.), where he has made his home for the past year.

He leaves to mourn his departure to the distant shore, two daughters, Mrs. Earl Taylor of Stevens Point, Mrs. Ernest Langton, Plover; five grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. Fred Burhop, town of Hull, Lewis Burhop at present unknown; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Lindner, this city, Mrs. Millie Anderson, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Those from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. earl Taylor, Stevens Point, Wis., and Mr. Ernest Langton of Plover, Wis.

The deceased was one of our early pioneers and never forgot the hospitable ways of the early settlers. Now another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our early settlers. But in his death there is little cause for grief, for he had filled the various relations of life, as son, father, brother, friend, and filled them well.
