Frost, Marie (1888? - 4 Augl 1916)

The news of the death of Miss Marie Frost saddened the hearts of many of our townsfolk (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) on Saturday of last week, when it was learned that she had passed away at Enunclaw, Wash., after an illness extending over a period of about a week. Miss Frost went west last October for her health, thinking that the western states would give her relief, and after a brief stay there she took a position as teacher in one of the public schools, but later had to give that up, because of failing health. Just before being taken seriously ill Miss Frost had been to Brush to visit her brother, who is ill in a hospital at that place, and on returning home she was stricken with the fatal attack of acute diabetes and passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 1916.

Miss Frost was 28 years of age and came to Withee, Clark County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Frost, twenty-three years ago, and up until last fall had made this place her home. For over four years she was a teacher in our public schools and while in this position she gained a great many friends. The body was brought to this village for burial on Wednesday, accompanied by her brother, J. C. Frost of Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Danish Church, and a short prayer given at the home. Services were conducted by Rev. Dixon, speaking in both English and Danish. She leaves to mourn a mother, father, four brothers and two sisters.

Those from away who came to attend the funeral were: J. C. Frost, Portland, Ore.; Arthur Frost, Coulter, Ia.; and Miss Emma Jacobsen of Sakov, Minn. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.
