Hepburn, Edith (189? - ? January 1981)

Word was received recently in Neillsville that Mrs. Edith Hepburn, 85, passed away in Mauston. Mrs. Hepburn and her husband were well known among older folks in Neillsville. Her husband, Frank, was the first manager of the Farmer Store in the community and stayed here for approximately 20 years.

Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday afternoon, February 4, from the Mauston United Methodist Church. Eastern Star services were held on the eve of the funeral.

The Hepburn’s came to Neillsville in the early 1930s, where he managed the new Farmer Store business. (That business is now the site of D&M Department Store.) The couple was socially active in the Neillsville community. In the early 1950s, the Hepburn’s moved to Mauston where they owned and operated a shoe store. The Hepburn’s had no children.

Mr. Hepburn learned of the death of his wife while he was a patient in a Mauston hospital. He had been confined there since January 25, suffering from a light heart attack.
