John Hasserodt, Jr.

John E. Hasserodt, Jr., 47, Spencer, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. A celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Community Funeral Home, Spencer. The Rev. Dave Ault, Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Bend, Ind., and former pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spencer, officiated. Burial was in the Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rex Hasserodt, Art Hasserodt, Ted Oasen, Milo Gordon, Kari Schaefer, and Krystal Schaefer.

John Hasserodt, Jr. was born on April 16, 1956 at Staten Island, New York City, to John and Carolyn (nee Wass) Hasserodt. He received his education in Staten Island. In 1975, his family moved to Spencer where he worked on the family farm. He married Rebecca Gutenberger Schaefer on Feb. 26, 2000, at Tower Hall, Marshfield. His interests included reading mysteries, watching movies, woodworking, and taking country drives.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; one daughter, Amie Hasserodt, Tomahawk; three stepdaughters, Kelly (Matt) Schlafke, Kari Schaefer, and Krystal Schaefer; two step-grandsons, Weston and Will Schlafke; his parents; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Wass, Marshfield; and two brothers, Arthur Hasserodt, Spencer and Rex (Renee) Hasserodt, Marshfield.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Arthur Wass, and his paternal grandparents.

Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
