Erler, Alma (5 JUN 1875 - 23 Dec 1926)

Miss Erler was born on the 5th of June 1875, at Bergishuebel, Sachsen, Germany and passed away at 11 p.m. Thursday, the 23rd of Dec, 1926, thus making her a little over 51 years old at the time of her death.

Her mother died when she was but 13 years old, leaving her and one sister, and a brother, Max Erler, to carry on the work of the family. In 1884 they, with their father, came to America, living at Milwaukee for two years, then moving to Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., where her sister married Paul Voigtlander; and from that time Miss Erler made her home with her sister, Mrs. Voigtlander, in the town of Hoard, where she passed to the Great Beyond.

She made her home with her brother-in-law and sister on the new land and with them she helped make a fine farm, and she assisted in helping bring up a family of three girls and two boys born to her sister during her stay with the family on the old farm in Hoard.

She embraced the Christian faith in her early childhood and she was happy in the thought that she could work for those she loved, giving in full measure goodness, a cheerfulness and sympathy to the sick and suffering, and always unconscious as a lamp of its own shining.

She has been taken from a home where all the members are very dear to each other and very kind to each other; hence, they will miss her precious affections, hopes and living interests, but she knew that God would continue to be their ruler though she passed on to Jesus.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gretsch of Curtiss in the German Reformed Church, near her home, and from there she was taken to the Dorchester Cemetery and placed in that silent tomb, where the curtains never sing open until Judgement Day.
