Chase, Samantha (1856? - 22 JUN 1928)

Friday evening, June 22, 1928, occurred the death of Mrs. Samantha Chase at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Koplitz, residing two and one-half miles west of the village of Withee, Clark County, Wis., at the age of 72 years. She had been in failing health for some time, and the cause of her death was heart trouble.

She was formerly a resident of Christie, Clark County, at which place she made her home for about twenty-eight years, and was one of the pioneer women of the county. For the past twelve years she has resided at the home of her daughter and during her residence her gained a large acquaintance who regret to learn of her death.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koplitz, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, and the body was then taken to her old home at Christie, where services were held at 2:30 o'clock and burial took place in the Christie Cemetery.

She leaves to mourn, six children, three sons and three daughters, Joseph of Plaza, N.D., Edmond of Peryollup, Wash., John of Owen, Mrs. Henry Koplitz, Withee, Mrs. Everett Rogers, Crane, Wis., and Mrs. Joseph Egan, Detroit Lakes, Minn. Also four brothers and one sister, Joe Barber, Marathon City, Wis., Frank Barber, California, T. H. Barber, Withee, Albert Barber, Oregon, and Mrs. Max Erler, Dublin, Mich.
