Jankoski, Loretta Mary Mar 22, 1912 - Jan 2,2003

Loretta Mary Jankoski, 90, Stanley, passed away Jan 2 at her residence. Loretta was born March 22, 1912, the daughter of Mathew and Clara (Weinsch) Lauer in the town of Delmar. She grew up in the Stanley area and attended are schools. Loretta was united in marriage to Claybourne Herbert Jankoski on Sep 25, 1934 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church by Rev. Anthony Mueller. Three sons were born to them - Donald, David and Charles. Loretta and Claybourne celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sep 23, 1984. As a young lady, Loretta worked for nine years at the home of attorney C.B. and Lillian Culbertson in Moon Park. After her children were in school she began working as a nurse aide at Victory Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home. During her 23 years of providing nursing care she became a licensed practical nurse. Loretta was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, P.C.C.W., Catholic Women’s Club and the Stanley Historical Society. Loretta is survived by her sons, David (Patricia) of Stanley and Charles (Agnes) of Oakland, Maine; four grandchildren, Thomas, Jill and Jared Jankoski and Michelle Van Dinter; her sisters, Elaine Northrup of Bloomington, Minn. and Eleanor Roehling of Chippewa Falls; and a sister-in-law, Bessie Lauer of Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claybourne in 1985; sons, Donald; her brothers, Norbert, Joseph and Earl and her sisters; Bertha Eckert and Lillian Seidling. Funeral services were held on Jan. 7 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley. Father Norbert Nelson officiated. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery in Stanley. Pallbearers were Michael Lauer, La Verne Seidling, Bradley Van Dinter, Thomas Jankoski and Jared Jankoski. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Stanley Area Historical Society or Holy Catholic Church.
