Pawlak, Walter (? - 17 OCT 1929)

An automobile accident, resulting in the death of Walter Pawlak, occurred last night a short distance east of the Lone Pine Cheese Factory, four miles west of Withee, Clark County, Wis. His injuries were such that he died at the hospital at Chippewa Falls this morning at 3 o'clock.

Phillip Schottler, a neighbor of Pawlak's was driving east on Highway 29, shortly before 7:30 last night with his team and wagon, loaded with windmill erecting tools. Pawlak, driving in the same direction, was blinded by the glaring headlights of another car, which was passing the Schottler wagon, crashed into the rear of the wagon and his injuries were such that he died the following morning. He was injured about the head and face, and internal injuries proved to be fatal.

The Schottler wagon and team were pushed ahead on the highway about three rods from the force of the Pawlak car, both horses thrown to the road, and Mr. Schottler rendered unconscious. He received numerous bruises and cuts, and today is felling the results of his injuries.

Passing cars soon arrive on the scene of the accident, and Marion Potter of this city, took Mr. Pawlak to Chippewa Falls to the hospital for medical attention, where it was found that his injuries were fatal. He is survived by his wife and three small children.
