April 16, 1925: Phoebe Free died Monday. She had been sick with the flu for about a week but was better and had a stroke and died immediately. She leaves a mother, Mrs. Hannah Free, of Neillsville; two brothers, Sidney and Herbert, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Davis and Mrs. Lucy Lawrence of this place, one sister in Minnesota and one in California.

April 23, 1925: The funeral of Miss Phoebe Free was held Sunday in the York Center Church. Rev. Wilson Mallery preached the sermon. Kenneth Grabe, Max Wierenzenski, Clayton Turner, Mildord Rowe, Verlan Rogers and George Zickert were pall bearers.
