Funeral services for Alvin Clifford Vandeberg, 63, who died in Niles, Illinois, October 22, were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the York Center Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. Lee Holmes officiated at the services and burial was made in the parish cemetery. Mr. Vandeberg was born in 1886 in the Town of York and received his education in Clark County schools. After he reached young manhood he moved to Milwaukee, where he worked as street car conductor for many years. Later he went to Chicago where he worked in a photography studio. He married Miss Julia Zimba in Chicago in 1913. In 1914, he and his wife returned to the Town of York, where they remained for 25 years on his home farm. Nine years ago they moved back to Illinois, where he was employed as a millwright and maintenance man for the Hinsdale Manufacturing Company, until his illness and death. Mr. Vandeberg is survived by his widow and by four sons, John, of Beaver Dam, Chester, of Forest Park, Illinois, Clifford, of Napanie, Washington, and Howard , of Forest Park, Illinois. One son pre-deceased him, as did his parents and one brother. Surviving are one brother, Horace Vandeberg of Neillsville, and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Ida) Voight, Neillsville, and Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Keller, of Neillsville. Vocalists at the funeral services were Nyle Benedict, Merton Davis and Jim Young, Mrs. Jesse Mortimer was the accompanist. June Haines, Vera Buddenhagen, Helen Lawrence, Della Chase, Bernice Egger, and Vivian Vandeberg acted as flower ladies. Pallbearers were Mervin, Harvey and Lyle Voight, Gale and Russell Vandeberg and George Schurama. Those who came from out of town to attend the services were Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Vandeberg of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. & Mrs. Gale Vandeberg of Appleton; Mr. George Scharama, Mr. & Mrs. Chester Vandeberg, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Vandeberg, all of Forest Park, Illinois; Mr. & Mrs. John Vandeberg of Beaver Dam; Mrs. Alvin Vandeberg, Niles, Illinois; Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Vandeberg, Marshfield; Mr. & Mrs. Charles Meyer and Mr. & Mrs. Ray Levengood of Hillside, Illinois; Mr. George Vandeberg and Chris Vandeberg of Baldwin; Mr. & Mrs. Louie Lawrence, Melvin Lawrence and Beulah Lawrence of Platteville; Mr. Abram Vandeberg, Granton; and Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Egger, Oshkosh.
