Funeral services are being held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Christie Methodist Church for Irvin C. Vandeberg, 62, Springfield, Oregon, a former Town of York resident who was accidently electrocuted Saturday in Springfield. The Rev. Ethel Nulton will officiate. Burial will be made in the York Cemetery. Irvin Chris Vandeberg was April 10, 1899, in the Town of York, where he was engaged in farming. He was the son of the late Abram and Lois (Lawrence) Vandeberg. He received his education in the Oriole Hill School, and prior to his marriage worked in lumbering camps in northern Wisconsin, in the wheat fields in the Dakotas and Montana, and also was employed in Marshfield for a few years. On June 9, 1931, he was married to Hilda Edens. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Town of York until the death of his wife in 1959. In that year he left to make his home in Springfield, Oregon, where he was employed in a woodworking mill. He was a member of the Christie Methodist Church and was a leader of the Happy Valley 4-H Club for many years. Mr. Vandeberg is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Virginia) Richmond, Jr., Granton; and Mrs. Donald (Joyce) Richmond, Neillsville. Other survivors are three brothers, Lawrence of Marshfield; Clarence of Springfield, Oregon; and Merrill of Portland, Oregon; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are being made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
