Wolter, Margaret (11 NOV 1860 - 19 May 1943)

Mrs. Margaret Fox Wolter, a pioneer resident of the town of Longwood, Clark County, Wis., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Hagen, May 19, 1943, after a short illness. Mrs. Margaret Wolter was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Nov. 11, 1860. On Oct. 13, 1878 she was married to August Wolter at New Hampton, Iowa, where they remained for several years. In 1881 they moved to Fall River, Wis. and at this place they made their home for twenty years. They came to Withee in 1899 and settled on a farm in the town of Longwood. To this union 10 children were born, Edward of Spokane, Wash, Hug, on the home place, Mrs. Lilly Mann, Beaver Dam, Mrs. Minnie Malcolm, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Bertha Ewing, Whitewater, Mrs. Ada Hagen, Withee, Mrs. Viola Christenson, Stanley. Two daughters, Mrs. Esther Hodnett of Withee and Mrs. Olga Taylor preceded her in death, also one son died in infancy.

On Oct. 13, 1928 Mr. and Mrs. Wolter celebrated their golden wedding.

Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1928. Since then Mrs. Wolters has made her home most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. Sam Hagen of Withee.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of the town of Longwood and also a member of the Ladies Aid.

Her sudden death came as a shock to the whole community.

Funeral services were held from the Griebenow Funeral Home in Owen, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Hotchkiss officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Riverside Cemetery.
