Hart, Charles (8 MAR 1827 - 30 Dec 1913)

Charles Hart died at the home of his son, George in Granton, Clark County, Wis., Dec. 30, 1913, after a short illness, aged 86 years, 9 months and 22 days. He was born at Whitbay, Canada, March 8, 1827, and moved with his parents when small to Napanee, Canada, where he grew to manhood. About the age of twenty-five years he was married to Serekla Allen, and they made their home in Castleton, Canada, for thirty years or more. To this union were born eight children, four of whom preceded their father in death. He came to Humbird, Clark County about twenty-eight years ago and has lived here or near here ever since. Mr. Hart was an old gentleman whom everyone liked, of a pleasant and agreeable disposition, and he will be greatly missed in the homes of his sons, where he has lived for several years past. He was converted in early manhood and has since lived a consistent Christian life. There remain to mourn his death, the wife and four sons, two sisters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The sons residing in the sates are Norman of this village, George and Fred of Granton. The remains were brought to this village and funeral services held at the F. M. Church on New Years Day, Rev. E. A. Wolfe of York officiating. There was a large number of old friends of the deceased present at the services. The burial was in the Mentor Cemetery.
