Crandell, Chester (4 Apr 1829 - 19 JUN 1914)

Chester Crandell was born in the Upper Province of Canada, town of Cramee, in 1829; and died at his home in Humbird, Clark County, Wis., June 19, 1914 at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 15 days. In 1853 he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Hart of Castleton, Ontario, and to this union was born eleven children, ten sons and one daughter. The latter, and five of the sons preceded him in death. In 1864 he moved to Sheboygan Co., Wis., where he lived fourteen years, and then moved to Humbird where he remained till the close of his life. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, five sons, two sisters, two brothers, a number of cousins and a host of friends. The deceased was of the Christian faith and united with the Baptist Church at an early age, afterwards uniting with the F. M. Church of this place. He was a good husband, father and neighbor, always taking a lively interest in the welfare of his loved ones. He was a man of integrity, having many excellent qualities and will be greatly missed in the circle from which he has gone. On Sunday afternoon, June 21st, the funeral services were held at the f. M. Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. L. Pound, and were attended by many of the older settlers of this community. The remains were laid at rest in the Mentor Cemetery.
