Stillman, Henrietta (23 JUN 1841 - 18 JUN 1915)

Living four years past the allotted space of three score years and ten, Mrs. Henrietta Stillman died at her home in this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) last Friday, after an illness of a number of months with dropsy. Mrs. Stillman bore her affliction with patience and a firm faith in a better life beyond this vale of tears.

Henrietta Lawrence was born at McKinsey's Corner, in the province of New Brunswick, Canada, on June 23, 1841, and died in Humbird on June 18, 1915, lacking five days of being 74 years of age. She grew to young womanhood in the place of her birth, and was there married to Mr. G. W. Stillman fifty-five years ago. Three years following their marriage the family came to the States, and soon after located at Eau Claire, Wis. Their home was there and at Augusta for several years and then, some thirty-five years ago, the family took up their residence on the farm in Garden Valley. A quarter of a century ago Mrs. Stillman was bereft of her husband, and left to fight the battle of life alone. Six years ago the deceased moved into the village and in partnership with Mrs. Ann Comstock conducted a confectionery store, until infirmities and old age caused her to dispose of her interest. The last time Mrs. Stillman was out from her home was to attend the funeral of Mrs. Comstock. Mrs. Stillman came of a large family, only two brothers of whom survive, Mr. Isaac Lawrence of Strum, and Mr. Wm. Lawrence of McKinsey's Corners, New Brunswick. She was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom have preceded her in death. Those left to mourn the loss of a faithful indulgent mother are, Mr. G. W. Stillman of Chugwater, Wyo.; Mrs. C. J. Wyman, Seattle, Wash.; Mr. Guy Stillman, Oshkosh. She was a member of the Humbird Chapter, O. E. S.

The funeral services were held Monday forenoon, conducted by Rev. G. L. Pound, and the remaisn were taken to Osseo for burial beside those of her husband. Relatives who attend the funeral were her son from Oshkosh, and Mrs. C. W. Stillman of Osseo.
