Phillips, Louisa (20 May 1851 - 18 JUN 1916)

Louisa Raether was born in Milwaukee, May 20, 1851, and died on the farm near Humbird, Clark County, Wis. June 18, 1916. Nov. 26, 1870, she was united in marriage to Mr. Leander Phillips at Oconomowoc. To them were born nine children, five sons and four daughters: George, Ernest, Clarence and Charles of Humbird, and William of Eau Claire; Mrs. Carrie Woodford of Humbird, Mrs. Ella Harrien of Neillsville, Mrs. Mina Eldridge of Montana, Mrs. Della Jungham of Ft. Atkinson. Mrs. Phillips has lived for the past forty years in Clark County and most of the time within the vicinity of Humbird.

Being the mother of nine children in the very nature of life, she has lived a strenuous life. She has been an industrious woman and devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed the respect and good will of her neighbors. She was sick only a few days before her death. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband and children, also by five brothers and three sisters.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church by pastor Rev. Witherbee on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, and the burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery. There was a large attendance of old friends who join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
