Schmidt, Delores "Toots" A. (26 DEC 1921 - 2 APR 2014)

Delores "Toots" A. Schmidt, age 92, formerly of Jump River, passed away on April 2, 2014, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.

She was born on December 26, 1921 in Jump River, the daughter of the late August and Augusta (Prill) Schmidt. She grew up in the Jump River area and attended school there. Delores remained at home with her parents throughout most of her adult life, and cared for them in their later years.

After her dad passed away in 1981, she moved to Marshfield, and later to Wisconsin Rapids. Delores took the trip of her life in June of 1988 when she and her friends danced their way to Texas and back with Tuba Dan's Polkalanders Midwest Polka Tour.

Delores is survived by nieces, Elsie Ertl of Westboro, Eva (John) Ruge of Medford, and Diane Herrick-Schmidt of Duluth, Minn.; sister-in-law, Connee Schmidt of Blacksburg, Va.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Esther Dernovsek; brothers, Lloyd and Harold; infant brother, August; and special friend, Glenn Anderson.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 10 at noon at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River. A luncheon will immediately follow for family and friends at the Jump River Community Center. Plombon Funeral Service of Gilman is assisting the family.
