Johnson, Glendon (15 MAY 1927 - 5 MAY 2014)

Glendon Johnson, age 86, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, on Monday, May 5, 2014 surrounded by his family.

A Memorial Service is pending.

Glen was born on May 15, 1927, in Unity, WI to the late Andrew Johnson, Jr. and Eleanor (Ringquist) Johnson. He attended school in Abbotsford until he joined the Navy. After an Honorable Discharge, he married Florence Soczka at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Athens on October 17, 1951. They shared more than 63 years together in marriage.

Glen spent most of his life as a cheese maker; at one point, operating the Longwood Cheese Factory. For more than 50 years they called Longwood their home. He was then employed by AMPI/Morning Glory Farms Cheese Factory in Abbotsford as the Assistant Manager where he later retired in the Manager position.

He enjoyed woodworking, pitching horseshoe, bowling, shooting pool, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR Racing, the Brewers, and most of all spending time with his family, especially at their cabin in Hatfield.

Survivors include his wife Florence of Marshfield; his children: Mark (Carolynn) Johnson of Chili, Gary (Judy) Johnson of Onalaska, Beth (John) Draves of Marshfield, and Brian (Gretchen) Johnson of Janesville; Grandchildren: Cari (Brian) Cassellius of Glenwood City, Steve (Heidi) Johnson of Marshfield, Morgan (Adam) Miemietz of Onalaska, Mallory Johnson of La Crosse, and Brooke and Jacob Draves of Marshfield; Great Grandchildren: Makenna Johnson of Marshfield and Samuel Cassellius of Glenwood City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray Johnson.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
