Sauer, Marcella (3 Aug. 1922 - 1987?)

Colby - Mrs. Marcella Sauer, 65, Route 2, Colby, died Sunday morning at her home.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Bruce Ball will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Howard Luelloff, James Kappel, Kevin Brock, Tom Loos, Robert Riemer and Daniel Fischer.

Visitation will be at the Rux Funeral Home, Colby, after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

She was born Aug, 3, 1922, in Colby to Walter and Nina Loos. She received her education in the Colby School District.

She was married to Herbert Sauer on Oct. 20, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The farmed in the town of Medford for eight years, Woodstock, Illinois for six years, and the town of Hull for four years.

She was employed as bookkeeper and general manager for Lutheran DeLaval for two years, an also worked at the Abby Hardware and Harmony Co-op, Colby as bookkeeper for several years.

In 1972, she and her husband, along with their son-in-law, opened the S&K Equipment where she was bookkeeper and office manager until the present. They were recent recipients of a certificate of appreciation in recognition of outstanding volunteer service benefiting the community from Catholic Family Life Insurance. This past week, she also received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Colby Chamber of Commerce.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its Christian Mother’s Society. She was also a member of the Colby Chamber of Commerce where she helped establish the Farm Wife of the Year Program of Wisconsin.

Surviving are her husband; her mother who resides at the Colonial Living Center, Colby; two sons, Roger of Furth, West Germany, and Clifford of Wausau; a daughter, Mrs. Nick (Eunice) Kleparski of Unity; two brothers, Darrel and Dean Loos, both of Colby; two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Morrow of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. Emilie Kappel of Stratford; and eight grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father and a son.
