Oldham, Bessie (June 21, 1884 - June 6, 1961)

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas funeral home for Mrs. Bessie (Alfred) Oldham, age 76, Rt. 2, Withee, who died, June 6, 1961 at her home. Burial was made in the town of Levis Cemetery. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated.

Mrs. Oldham, the former Bessie Savage, was born June 21,1884. She was a resident of Wisconsin her entire life, during which time she taught school for 20 years and practiced nursing. The Oldham family formerly resided in the town of York, and seven years ago moved to their present home near Withee. She had been in poor health the last two months.

She was married July 2, 1902, to the late Alfred Oldham in Neillsville, Wis.

Survivors are two sons, Harold, of Rt. 2, Withee and Arnold, of Rt. 2, Owen; a sister, Mrs. Harvey (Sadie) Banta, Richland Center; two brothers, Farris Savage of Richland Center, and Phillip Savage of Madison, Tenn.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edison Mathis sang two music selections, "Sometime We’ll Understand" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott.

Pallbearers were; William Oldham, Charles Oldham, Ray Oldham, Guy Oldham, Alvin Wendt and Frederick Wendt.

People from away, here for the service were; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Banta, Richland Center; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Grim and Arthur Grim, Richland Center; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Carter, Holmen; Mr. and Mrs. Chester McCumber, Viola; Fay Savage, Richland Center; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Oldham, Michael and Stewart, Owen; Harold Oldham and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Oldham, Withee; David Banta and John, Kansasville; Mrs. Gertrude Borgen, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Deak Williams, Strum; Mrs. Dorothy Salmon, Muscoda; Guy Oldham, Eau Claire; Mrs. Paul Winkler, Gerold Southard, Mrs. Lena Southard. Appleton; Mrs. H. W. Cavanaugh, and Edith Dicks, Richland Center.
