Wendt, Minnie A. (June 22, 1885 - November 3. 1959)

Funeral services were conducted Friday from the United Church for Mrs. Minnie A Wendt, age 74, of Neillsville, who died Tuesday, November 3, 1959. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated. Funeral arrangements were made by Georgas Funeral Home and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Wendt was born June 22, 1885, in the town of Levis, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Oldham) Raether. She attended a rural school there and Neillsville High School, and worked as a store clerk in Neillsville until her marriage to the late Fred Wendt on October 7, 1902. They farmed in Clark County until 1907, when they rented a farm near Alma Center. In 1917 they returned to Clark County and farmed in the town of Levis. Mrs. Wendt moved to Neillsville in 1951.

She was a member of the United Church, the Bible class, the sewing circle, the United Women’s organization, the Happy Hour Homemakers of the town of Levis, and Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by four children; Alvin, Neillsville; Mrs. Paul (Mary) Stuhlman, Waukegan, Ill.; Miss Eva Wendt, Neillsville; and Frederick, Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Waukegan, Ill. and two brothers, Alvin Raether, Stockton, Cal. and Frank Raether, Concord, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were; Ernest Campbell, Elmer Filitz, Henry Markwardt, John Putz, Herbert Filitz and Fred Palmer.

Ellis Wall offered two hymns, "Saved By Grace" and "In The Garden", accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott.

People from away, here for the funeral, were; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stuhlman, Miss Diane Stuhlman, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Johnson, all of Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Oldham, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. John Dahlke, Edgar; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Michels, Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hatton, Mrs. Eliza Forman, Mr. and Mrs. Verland Berrett, Mrs. Oscar Brandt, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Worden, Greenwood; Mrs. H. Meir, Humbird; Mrs. Merton Holt and Mrs. Ethel Holt, Granton.
