Rachel Sandboe (Gulbrandsdalen)

The remains of Mrs. Rachel Sandboe were brought to Whitehall Saturday, where they were interred in Lincoln cemetery.

Mrs. Sandboe was born in Gulbransdalen, Norway, in 1828. She came with her husband to this country in the year 1870. They settled on a farm in Trempealeau Valley and later moved to Whitehall to make their home. Six children were born to them, four of whom are living. In 1899 Mr. Sandboe was taken sick and died in 1891. Mrs. Sandboe then moved to Neillsville to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ezra Campbell, and has resided there ever since. On September 28, she was taken ill with heart trouble and died December 13. Besides the four children living, three daughters, Mrs. Ezra Campbell of Neillsville; Mrs. Rachel Peterson of Osseo; Mrs. H.H. Condon of Superior and one son, Ole Sandboe of Superior, she has 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Sandboe was a devout member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Services were held at Neillsville, Rev. Coleman of the M.E. church officiating and the remains brought here to internment. No service was held here.
