Svoma, Dorothy M. (24 May 1935 – 10 Oct. 2005)

Dorothy M. Svoma, age 70, of 14089 198th St., Jims Falls, former longtime Stanley resident, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2005 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Dorothy was born on May 24, 1935 in Stanley, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Leja) Slowiak. She grew up in the Stanley area and graduated from Stanley High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Harley Svoma on May 26, 1956 at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church, Junction, Clark County. They resided and worked in Schiller Park, IL until 1970 when they moved to Thorp and purchased the Silver Dollar Tavern and Restaurant and owned and operated it from 1972 until 2002. Upon their retirement in 2002, they moved to Jim Falls, where they have resided since.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harley, of Jim Falls, and one daughter, Jodi (Jonah) Cash, of Dublin, CA and grandchildren: Cameron, Brainna and Jaymeson; three sisters, Katie LaSage, of Stanely, Francis Leszewski and Helen Slowiak, both of Mesa, AZ and one brother, Ray (Yvonne) Slowiak, of Portage. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Bernice Olichwier and one brother, Edward Slowiak.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, fishing and games of chance.

Services were held on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Plombon Funeral Chapel. Pastor William Stewart officiated.
