Evelyn Marie Peterson

Evelyn Marie Peterson, 78, Curtiss, died on Sept. 27, 1999, at the Memorial Health Care emergency room in Medford, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss, with Rev. Lauren Ley presiding. Inurnment will be in St. Paul's Church cemetery in North Green Grove.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford from 4 - 8 p.m. and then on Friday, at the church from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

The former Evelyn Marie Nerdrum was born on Sept. 3, 1921, in the Town of Eidsvold, Stanley, the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Quamman). Evelyn was a 1939 graduate of Stanley High School.

On Aug. 24, 1959, Evelyn and Armin Henry Peterson were united in marriage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss, Wis. She continued her employment at the Laabs Cheese Factory as bookkeeper. She later worked at the Owen NFO plant as an accountant and retired in 1986 from the Abbotsford AMPI plant.

Evelyn and Armin were very active in the Curtiss community working together in their endeavors for the community including the Community Center and other organizations. For many years, Evelyn was the financial secretary for St. Paul's Lutheran Council where both were very active. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful quilts.

She is survived by her children, Robert May of Kenosha and Joan Martin of Weyerhaeuser; three brothers, Ronald (Marian) Nerdrum of Stanley, Robert Nerdrum of Kenosha, Alfred (Rosalie) Nerdrum, Jr. of Lansing, Mich.; two sisters, Leona Matott of Cadott and Bethella (Paul) Cosby of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin Peterson, on Sept. 16, 1997; one son, Gerald May in 1984; two brothers, Harley and Lloyd Nerdrum, and two sisters, Thelma Thompson and Marcia Beckman.
