Lau, Henry J.F. (3 Dec 1838 - 19 JUN 1898)

Died, at his home in the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., at abut 12 o’clock midnight, Sunday, June 19th, 1898, of epilepsy, Henry John Frederick Lau, in the 60th year of his age.

Mr. Lau was born at Resstock, Germany, Dec 3rd, 1838; was united in marriage with Friedericke Borchart in 1866; in 1881 they came to this country and settled at Milwaukee, where his wife died in 1882, a year later he came to Colby with his son Charles, who survives him; in 1890 he was united in marriage with the wife who survives him.

He was taken with epilepsy the middle of last week and on Thursday was in bad shape, but was enough better, Friday, to be in the city. On Saturday he was taken again, went from one fit into another until Sunday night, about midnight, he died.

The funeral was held in St. John’s Evangelical Church, Tuesday afternoon, and the remains were interred in Colby Cemetery, Rev. M. Zutz officiating.
