Sommer, Lydia (25 AUG 1898)

Married, at the Lutheran Church in Green Grove, Clark Co., Wis., on Thursday, Aug. 25th, 1898, by Rev. A. Kuring, Mr. Ernst Laabs and Miss Lydia Sommer, both of Green Grove.

The groom is a son of Herman Laabs, one of the old settlers of the town of Green Grove, and is a bright industrious young man. The bride is the daughter of Wm. Sommer, ex-chairman of the town of Green Grove, and is a young lady much respected by her many acquaintances, both at home and her in the city.

After the ceremony at the church, the wedding party repaired to the spacious home of the bride’s parents, where a host of friends of both the bride and groom gathered to give them a royal send off. There were amusements provided for the old and the young, and every opportunity was improved. Dancing and card playing were indulged in, according to the propensities of the person. Refreshments were served in quantities to suit the veriest gourmand, and in duality to tickle the palate of an epicure. The festivities were kept up until long after clocks had chimed the hour of midnight, when the guests took their departure with hearties and best wishes for their future happiness and welfare of the bride and groom.

There were many beautiful and valuable presents.
