John Lansworth was born Nov 1842 and he died 22 Apr 1917.

The following was taken from the Park Falls, Wis., Independent: "Old Soldier Laid at Rest--John Johnson Lansworth was born in the town of Norway, Racine Co., Wis. Nov. 10, 1842, and died on Sunday, April 22, 1917 after a long illness aged 74 years, 5 months, and 12 days. He served his country through the Civil War as sergeant of Company C. of the 15th Wis. Volunteers. Near the close of the war he was severely wounded and honarably discharged. In 1866 he was married to Miss Susan Myrland, of Primrose, Wis., who died nine years ago. Eight children were born of the union, five of whom are living. Mr. Lansworth was again married on July 29, 1913 to Mrs. Catherine White, who, together with his five daughters, survive, viz: Mrs. Sorenson, of Dorchester, Wis., Mrs. Stanley, of New London, Wis., Mrs. Johnson of Ogema, Mrs. Fryke of Jump River, and Mrs. Oden of Minneapolis. There are also three brothers, Peter Johnson Lansworth of Agee, Nebraska, and Henry and Charles Johnson of Racine County, and also two sisters, Misses Caroline and Sarah Johnson, of Racine County. Deceased came to Park Falls from Ogema a few years ago and was known as one of our most substantial citizens. After a short service at the home, the body was taken to Ogema for the burial on Tuesday, April 24, accompanied by the Rev. B. F. Shoenfeld of the Ogema Congregational church, attended by the widow, Mrs. Lansworth and his sister, Miss Caroline Johnson and nephew, Orville Johnson, of Racine County, Kelna Johnson and wife, of Ashland, Farwell, daughters of Mrs. Lansworth, and Mrs. Korswell, of Park Falls. The services, held at the Congregational church in Ogema, were impressive and all of the school children of the city, draped in the national colors and carrying flags, marched before the funeral procession to the cemetery and sang serveral patriotic song. The Sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved widow and children in their sorrow."

There is a Lansworth family stone and a plot for John J. Lansworth  next to Susan M. Lanworth's in Hillside Cemetery, Omega, Price Co., Wis., (Sec. F, Row 5)

Family Notes

John J. and Susan Myrland Lansworth had 7 daughters and a son, John, who died in infancy. They were married Sept. 25, 1865 and made their home on a farm in Primrose, Dane County. In 1876 John Lansworth was awarded his 160 acres of land and moved to Dorchester. He later moved to Ogema (I don't have the exact date).

1. Ida Josephine Lansworth Sorensen. Married Martin Ernest Sorensen. Lived in both Dorchester and Abbotsford. Martin is sometimes shown as Ernest Martin. I believe he was a brother to Hans and Andrew who owned the butcher shop as I was told he worked there also.

2. Elizabeth Bertha Lansworth Benson. Married Benjamin Gustav Benson. Moved to Tacoma, Washington where Benjamin was in the grocery business.

3. Anna Leona Lansworth Stanley. Married Cleveland Baker Stanley. Lived in both New London and Clintonville. CB was (I think) Supt. of Schools in one of the districts. Anna became a teacher, writer and reporter for the Clintonville newspaper.

4. John Calmer Lansworth. Died at two and one-half weeks 3/22/1873 and is buried in the Myrland family cemetery at Primrose, Dane Co.

5. Louella Amelia Lansworth Smith. Married Ole J. Johnson.

6. Mabel Amanda Lansworth Smith. (My grandmother). Married Nicholas Samual Smith and lived in Ogema. My grandfather Nicholas was the depot agent for the Soo Line until he died in 1937.

7. Alma Rozella Lansworth Fryk. Married Anton Theodore Fryk. Lived in Jump River. Anton Fryk was a farmer.

8. Calla Myrl Lansworth Oden. Married Charles Oden of Ogema. Eventually settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota as Charles Oden worked for the railroad and was transferred there.
