Swan, Perry (1837 - 26 AUG 1904)

Died, at his home in Abbotsford, Wis., on Saturday night, Aug. 26th, 1904, Mr. Perry Swan, aged 67 years.

Perry Swan was born at Mt. Hope, Holme Co., Ohio, in the year 1837; moved to Hicksville, Ohio, in 1860. On July 4th, 1861, he was united in marriage with Laura A. Shaw, who survives him and with three children, Mrs. Laura Kyle, Mrs. E.A. Dickinson and Adam W. Swan, mourn the love of a kind husband and father. Besides these there is a brother at Defiance, Ohio, two sisters in Stark Co., Ohio, one sister at Elkhart, Ind., and eight grandchildren.

Perry Swan came to Colby with his family in 1883, and settled in the town of Frankfort, Marathon Co., ten miles east of here, where he continued to live until this summer when he removed to Abbotsford, Wis. He owned and operated a saw mill until a few years ago when rheumatism, the direct cause of his death, confined him to the house, being unable to get any relief, although trying every know remedy.

The funeral was held at Abbotsford, Monday, Rev. Wallace officiating, and the large number who accompanied the remains to Colby Cemetery gave proof of the high esteem in which he was held in this community.
