I just leaned of his death last month. He was a very good friend of mine in high school. I played football with him, played in a rock band with him, and we used to play the guitar together at his house. He was one of the few people in school that I really looked up to and admired. Benton was a fantastic role model, and was kind to all. Even though he excelled in everything he did....the main characteristic he displayed was humility and compassion for others. He was truly a rare individual, and although I have not seen him in over 20 years, the news of his death has had a large impact on me.
