Krause, Herman (14 March 1862 - 11 Dec. 1935)

Herman Krause was born in Pomerania, Germany, on March 14, 1862. When a boy of nine he came with is parents to America and settled in the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis. He lived with his parents until he was married to Mary Gross, when he began farming for himself. To this union nine children were born, all of whom are living, Emil, Martha, Mrs. Elmer Rose, Walter, Gertie, Mrs. John Breseman, Klao, Martin, Lydia, Mrs. Ray Ure, Anges, Mrs. Ed Ure, Lottie, Mrs. Arthur Marg.

He died after a lingering illness on Dec. 11, 1935 at the Neillsville hospital. The funeral was held Sunday, Dec. 15th, at the Granton Union Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker, pastor of the Neillsville Congregational Church, officiating. Mrs. Schmidtke and Mrs. Kayser with Mrs. G. Crandall of Granton furnished the music.

The pallbearers were Elmer Marg, Leland Schultz, Felix Krause, Elory Krause, and Alvin Krause and Glen Rose.

He was buried in the Lynn Cemetery.

There remain to mourn his loss the wife, and nine children, thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Gustave Marg, and two brothers, John and August Krause.

There was a large attendance at the funreal, testifying to the esteem in which he was held by the community.
