Matthies, Cheryl Lynn (Marriage – 24 May 1975)

Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa, was the setting for the May 24 wedding of Miss Cheryl Lynn Matthies and Thomas James Thiel, D.C. The Rev. Ingolf Kindem officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Matthies, Wauwatosa, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thiel, Plymouth, Mi. A reception was held at the Boulevard Inn, Milwaukee.

The bride carried a cascade arrangement of white carnations and baby’s breath as she approached the altar in a high-waisted, full-skirted gown fashioned with a sweep train and a bodice appliqued with seed pearls. Her head was covered by a lace-edged, elbow-length veil.

Miss Lynn Eve Sturm, Kenosha, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Shirley Rozdalovsky, Arlington heights, Il., and Miss Alice Thiel, Baltimore, Md. Their gowns in rainbow shades of light green, light blue and lavender, respectively, were complimented by bouquets of tinted carnations and baby’s breath.

Serving as best man was the Rev. James E. Reiff, Edgar, Stan Dardzinski, Upper Marlboro, Md., and John Kosolcharoen, Wisconsin Rapids, acted as groomsmen.

Ed Wise was the organist and Miss Deb Reach, guitarist and soloist.

The new Mrs. Thiel graduated cum laude from Carthage college, Kenosha, with a major in elementary and special education. Her husband is a graduate of Augsburg college, Minneapolis, Mn., and of Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Minneapolis. He has offices in Wisconsin Rapids and in Neillsville.

Dr. and Mrs. Thiel have returned from a wedding trip to Door County and are living in Wisconsin Rapids.
