Buettner, Marvin "Bill" (September 11, 1942 - June 20, 1997)

Marvin "Bill" Buettner, age 54, N1969 State Hwy 95, Neillsville, died at 3 p.m., Friday June 20, 1997 at Urgent Care-Marshfield Clinic.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 1997 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville, with the Rev. Timothy Biebert officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The body lay in state at the Neillsville Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and after 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Bill was born September 11, 1942, to Everett and Leota (Wicks) Buettner, in Neillsville, Wis. He married Dianne Schutte on June 22, 1966 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville, Wis. He graduated May 25, 1960 from Neillsville High School. He served in the National Guard, and then was employed at Lynn Dairy as a milk hauler and in the factory. For the past 33 years he has been employed at Nelson Muffler in Special Projects and Maintenance.

He was treasurer for the Town of Levis for the past 21 years, and Fire Warden for the past five years; a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and had served on the church council and was currently serving as treasurer. Bill loved his grandchildren and family, and enjoyed fishing with his friends.

Surviving is his wife, Dianne; two daughters, Terri (Edward) Prokop, Stevens Point, and Kathleen (Robert) Roskos, Hixton; one son, William (Ruth) Buettner, Lake Geneva; five grandchildren, Lana and Joseph Prokop, Joshua, Jessica and Stephanie Roskos; two brothers, Dwayne (Dorothy) Buettner, Salem, and James (Kay) Buettner, Lynn; one sister, Jackie (Herman) Strangfeld, Neillsville, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
