Pflughoeft, Bertha (19 FEB 1861 - 5 MAY 1929)

NEILLSVILLE, Clark Co., Wis. - The funeral services of Mrs. Ferdinand Pflughoeft, who died on Sunday morning, May 5, 1929, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. William A. Bauman, pastor of the St. John’s Church, officiating. A short service at the Pflughoeft farm home will precede the church service. Interment will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Pflughoeft, whose maiden name was Miss Bertha Rusch, was born on Feb. 19, 1861. She attained her early education and grew to womanhood in the land of her birth and at the age of 22 years, she came alone to America and joined her brothers who were then living at Milwaukee. In 1885, she was married to Ferdinand Pflughoeft at Milwaukee and the newlyweds went to housekeeping in that city. In 1896, they moved to Clark County and settled on a farm in Pine Valley township, near Neillsville, Wis.

Seven children were born to them, two daughters, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Edith died several years ago. Mrs. Pflughoeft has enjoyed good health until recent years, but last fall she entered upon five long months of serious illness. She underwent an operation and was a patient for many weeks at the St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield, but came home to spend her last days with her family. She grew gradually weaker until she died on Sunday morning, having attained the age of 68 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Deceased is survived by five children, three daughters being: Miss Clara Pflughoeft; Anna, Mrs. Edward C. Peck; and Mrs. Margaret Hunt, all of Detroit, Mich. The two sons, are Henry W. Pflughoeft of Milwaukee, and Frank W. Pflughoeft, who resides on the home farm at Neillsville, Wis. She also is survived by three sisters, Mrs. August Plautz and Mrs. Edward Starke of Edgerton; and Mrs. Carl Sellin of Oshkosh. The three grandchildren are Miss Eileen Peck, Donald Hunt and Miss Edith Pflughoeft.
