Zuege, Eugene R. (30 AUG 1930 - 12 MAR 2006)

Eugene Richard Zuege, 75, Spencer, passed away at 2:55 p.m., on Saturday, March 12, 2006, at the Colonial House Nursing and Rehabilitative Center, Colby, due to complications due to multiple strokes.

Services were held on Wednesday, March 15, at the Community Funeral Home. The Rev. Rebecca Tarras officiated. Interment was at the Lutheran Cemetery in Loyal.

Eugene Richard Zuege was born Aug. 30, 1930, in the town of Beaver, to Frank Martin and Elsie (nee Johnson) Zuege. He grew up on the family farm in Loyal. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1948. Stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he served active duty in the United States Army with the 813th EAB, Elmendorf AFB Unit in Alaska from Jan. 26, 1952 to Dec. 23, 1953, where he was an E-4 corporal and operated and serviced trucks up to 15 tons. In 1954, he returned to Loyal to work on the family farm until 1970. Upon moving to Spencer, he was employed at Land O’ Lakes for 20 years, retiring in 1990. His favorite pastimes included cooking on the grill, fishing, working in the back yard, and gardening.. He was mechanically minded and was able to fix nearly anything. He had a love for animals as well,\. He was a very kind-hearted man.

Survivors include his longtime friends and companion, Beatrice Hayton, Spencer; her daughter, Judith Ann Hayton, Phillips; her granddaughters, Davette Lynne Hrabak, Phillips, and Lynne Anne Bohn, Phillips; his brother, James (Terri) Zuege, Spencer; three nieces, Unsie (Mark) Webster, Tonka Bay, Minn., Irene Pueschner, Marshfield, and Caroline (Randy) Oestreich, Marshfield; one nephew, Ryan Zuege, Spencer; two grand-nephews, Colin Pueschner and Ross Pueschner; and a grand-niece, Haley Oestreich.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Elsie Zuege.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
