Fisher, Isabelle (188? - JUL 1912)

A.H. Greenwood of Vienna, Virginia, sent us a copy of the Fairfax, Va. Herald, which paper contained the following obituary of Mrs. Isabelle Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Allan, former Colby, Clark Co., Wis. residents:

"Isabelle, beloved wife of Mr. Walter Fisher, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Allan, died last Friday at the home of her brother-in-law, Mr. A.H. Greenwood, near Vienna, of a long and, at time, painful illness, of nearly two years’ duration. An apparently slight cold by slow degrees developed into consumption, against the ravages of which a temporary abode in South America, the talent of the most distinguished experts, a mother’s and sister’s constant and careful nursing proved of no avail. The departed was young, amiable, of a cheerful temperament and courageously resisted the approach of death, but kind Providence decreed otherwise, ended her sufferings and lifted her spotless soul into that celestial bourn where blissful peace forever reigns. The funeral took place last Sunday afternoon, and interment was held at Flint Hill Cemetery, where the flower laden casket containing her mortal remains were gently lowered into the grave in the presence of the mourning family and a vast assembly of sympathizing friends, among whom was Mrs. G.F. Butterworth, sister of Mr. Fisher, who came all the way from Miron, Ind., to attend the obsequies. The Rev. J.M. Nourse, pastor of the Vienna Presbyterian Church, officiated. The many floral tributes offered by friends were of exquisite designs, and like emblems still continue to arrive from the West, where, as here, the departed was greatly beloved, Dr. Paul Fischer, of Ohio, brother of the bereaved husband, sent an especially beautiful emblem. The deceased was a native of Wisconsin, thirty-two years old, and is survived by a husband and a promising little son, yet too tender to realize his loss.
