Madler, Augusta Schmidtke (1889 – 3 June 1975)

A former Town of Fremont resident, Mrs. Augusta Schmidtke Madler, 85, of Evergreen Park, Il., died Tuesday, June 3, at a hospital there. Funeral services were held Saturday from Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, with the Rev. Everett Schleef officiating. Interment was in the Yolo Cemetery.

Mrs. Madler was born in Germany in 1889 and came to the United States at the age of one year, with her parents. They lived in the Town of Lynn for a time then settled in the Town of Fremont.

Her marriage to Joe Madler took place June 8, 1910. The couple farmed in the Town of Fremont for many years. After her husband’s death on February 4, 1961, Mrs. Madler moved to Evergreen Park to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Chili.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. George (Pauline) Bayer, of Evergreen Park, Il., one son, Stanley Madler of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Earl Dumas of Tacoma, WA.; three brothers: Ernest Schmidtke of Neenah, Henry Schmidtke of Lidgerwood, N.D., and Herman Schmidtke of Nipomo, Ca., and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
