Thums, Verland John (19 April 1920 - 9 June 2006)

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Verland John Thums, 86, of Tigard, Ore., died of natural causes Friday, June 9, 2006.

Nicheside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum in Portland.

He was born April 19, 1920, in Loyal. He married Yvonne E. Christensen on June 27, 1946. Mr. Thums was a manager and in retail sales of machinery and agriculture. He had lived in Tigard since 2001. Prior to this he lived in Medford, Ore., for 53 years. He worked for Cal-Ore Machinery for 30 years and then the Grange Co-op in Central Point from 1978 until his 1985 retirement.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne E. Thums of Tigard, Ore.; his son, Eric E. Thums of Portland, Ore.; a grandson, Kristoffer Thums; and his sister, Beatrice "Dotty" Rice of Oconto.
