Swan, Laura (1844 - 5 JAN 1915)

Mrs. Laura Swan, widow of the late Perry Swan, died at Abbotsford, Wis., at 2 o’clock Tuesday morning, Jan. 5th, 1915, of general debility, age 70 years, 6 months and 28 days.

Laura Shaw was born in Defiance Co., Ohio, in the year 1844. On July 4th, 1861, she was united in marriage to Perry Swan. With her husband and children she came to Colby in the fall of 1882, and settled on a farm in the town of Frankfort (Marathon, Co.), where her husband also operated a saw mill and was postmaster at Swan. She was a kind and loving woman and highly respected by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her death one son, Adam W. Swan of Milwaukee, and one daughter, Mrs. E.A. Dickinson of Riverside, and two brothers, J.J. Shaw of Rovenna, Ohio, and Warren Shaw at Independence, Kansas, and eleven grandchildren.

The funeral services were held in Abbotsford, Thursday forenoon, and the remains laid to rest in the family lot in Colby Cemetery.
