Howard, Nona M. (17 June 1921 - 19 Aug. 2005)

Nona M. Howard, 84, Marshfield, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, in the palliative care unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev Mark Krueger will officiate. Mary Castner will provide music and Duane Helgerson will serve as soloist.

Interment of ashes will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Granton. Great-grandchildren, Ashley Schuld, Kayla Schuld and Tia Howard and grandson Torey Howard will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Nona was born June 17, 1921, in Neillsville, a daughter of William and Ruby (Martin) Dankemyer. She graduated from Granton High School and later attended Stevens Point Normal School. On March 15, 1942, in Clark County, the former Nona Dankemyer was united in marriage to Robert C. Howard.

Nona was employed at Weinbrenner Shoes for over 35 years, retiring in 1986.

She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. Nona enjoyed visiting with family and friends, especially if it included dining out. She was a Nascar fan and enjoyed watching most sporting events, particularly those her grandchildren played. Nona also liked long walks.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Virginia (Francis) Scherr and Jerald (Bonnie) Howard, both of Marshfield. Five grandchildren, Marcinda (Jim) Kane, George (RaeAnn) Scherr, Todd (Bobbie) Howard, Torey (Sharleen) Howard and Trina (Scott Conrad) Howard and 13 great-grandchildren further survive her.

Her parents, husband and one sister, Lone Jevens, preceded her in death.
